Apple’s 10 billion app countdown promotion has ended. Apple is going to give the winner who has either downloaded an app from the app store or submitted an entry form right after the 9,999,999,999 download, a $10,000 gift card.
At the end of September 2009, the App Store hit 2 billion apps downloaded and by January 2010, there were 3 billion downloads from the App Store.
Apple hasn’t announced the lucky winner of the $10,000 gift card.
According to 9to5mac.com, images in the latest update of the Keynote Remote by Apple which was released today together with new Keynote features for iWork.com which gives a hint of the upcoming iWork”11 that might be coming out tomorrow together with the release of the Mac App Store. iWork”11 rumors have been going around since November 2010 when AppleInsider suggested that iWork”11 should have been released together with iLife”11 but was put on the shelf the last minute and saved for the Mac App Store launch in January 2011.
The update for the Keynote Remote today includes 2 slightly changed Keynote icons with 2011 on them. Over the years, Apple has been updating the Keynote icon with a new year as a new version gets released – It happened in the past Keynote”09 as well.
According to MacStories.net, Apple might release all this updates but might still release iWork”09 as standalone apps in the Mac App Store but with all the rumors that have been going around recently and the fact that Apple has heavily featured iWork apps in the Mac App Store promo, there is also a possibility of seeing iWork”11 as a digital download in the Mac App Store tomorrow.
Verizon Wireless may have just recently just acquired the domain names iPhoneonVerizon.com and iPhoneforVerizon.com. The domain names appear to have been originally registered through GoDaddy to Jack Benton then later transferred to the Mark Monitor domain service. Benton owns the domain names iPhoneonSprint.com and iPhoneonATT.com and judging by the those site designs being the same as iPhoneonVerizon.com’s design, he was the one who transferred or sold the Verizon iPhone domain to Verizon.
The new registration information for the iPhoneonVerizon.com and iPhoneforVerizon.com domains are identical to other domain registered to Verizon. Because domain registration information can be faked, this rumored domain transfer is still unconfirmed. We are skeptical of its legitimacy as it seems odd that Verizon would register such a high-profile domain with their actual information.
Even if Verizon did purchase those domain names this is still not proof of a soon-launching Verizon iPhone as they could have purchased them for a later date (not an early 2011 iPhone launch) or could have purchased them simply due to rumors and for potential traffic. Verizon could also be scooping up potential brand infringing domains like Bank of America owns bankofamericasucks.com
Also, at this time, the two domain names still forward to Benton’s website, not to anything from Verizon. Verizon most likely still forwards to his site in order to stay under the radar. - 9to5mac.com
According to several reports on the web and on twitter, the alarm doesnt seem to be with the arrival of 2011. This bug is similar to the Daylight Savings Bug in November by repeating alarms and alarm failures.
